WALTON COUNTY, Fla. – A former office manager at a pediatric medical practice in Walton County has been arrested and charged with defrauding the business out of more than $170,000, according to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO).
Authorities say Jennifer Consuegra, 45, of Destin, is accused of executing a long-running scheme involving unauthorized payroll increases and personal expense reimbursements.
Alleged Payroll Scheme
Investigators allege Consuegra overpaid herself more than $139,000 in unauthorized payroll and bonuses.
In addition, she is accused of:
Using company funds to pay nearly $2,000 in personal utility bills
Illegally covering over $30,000 in family health insurance premiums meant to be her personal responsibility
Investigation and Arrest
When investigators attempted to contact Consuegra, she refused to cooperate, officials said.
She was arrested on August 29 and booked into the Walton County Jail, charged with scheme to defraud over $50,000 — a felony in Florida. She was released the same day after posting a $25,000 bond.
Sheriff’s Statement
“This case highlights the importance of accountability and oversight in protecting businesses from financial exploitation,” said Sheriff Michael Adkinson. “We remain committed to pursuing justice for victims of fraud and theft in our community.”
