VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — Jeffrey Love, 56, was arrested this week by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office (VSO) following a nine-month investigation into an elaborate scam involving custom airboats.

Love, described by authorities as a “fraudulent boat builder,” allegedly defrauded five customers out of over $200,000 by accepting commissions for custom airboats but repeatedly stalling and failing to complete the work. Investigators say Love provided various excuses to avoid fulfilling his obligations.

This is not Love’s first run-in with the law for similar fraudulent activity, according to the VSO, though prior arrests occurred in other jurisdictions that were not specified.

On Tuesday, Love was booked into the Volusia County Branch Jail without bond. He faces several felony charges, including grand theft over $100,000, an organized scheme to defraud over $50,000, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and two counts of probation violation.

As of Thursday afternoon, Love remains in custody as the investigation continues.
