LAS CRUCES, N.M. (KVIA) — A Las Cruces man, Jeffrey L. Cruickshank, 40, has been arrested and charged in connection with a violent stabbing incident that occurred on June 14, 2025.
According to Las Cruces Police, Cruickshank is facing multiple felony charges including two counts of attempted murder, aggravated burglary with a deadly weapon, armed robbery, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
Authorities say the incident unfolded when Cruickshank approached a 39-year-old man sitting in a car along the 200 block of East Idaho Avenue. He allegedly demanded the car keys and, upon refusal, began stabbing the victim.
Despite his injuries, the victim managed to escape and seek help at a nearby Walgreens. He was airlifted to El Paso for emergency treatment and has since been released from the hospital.
Following the incident, the suspect was described as an African-American male, approximately 5’11”, with short hair and a goatee, wearing an oversized black hoodie and dark pants. Police were able to identify and arrest Cruickshank in the days following the attack.
He remains in custody as the investigation continues.
