JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A Jefferson City woman has been charged with drug trafficking after a traffic stop on Wednesday.
At 12:48 p.m., Jefferson City police stopped Chelsea Steele, 35, in the 600 block of Madison Street. The officer had received information from the MUSTANG Drug Task Force that Steele was allegedly transporting fentanyl from Columbia to Jefferson City.
During the stop, Steele admitted she did not have a driver’s license and that her infant child was in the back seat. A search of the vehicle uncovered three wrapped bags containing 1.5 grams of a grayish substance that tested positive for fentanyl.
Steele has been charged with Second Degree Trafficking Drugs and Driving While Revoked/Suspended. She is being held without bond at the Cole County Jail.
