Greenville Police Department continues their investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred Wednesday on Conley Street, just feet from a playground in West Greenville.

The victim, 27-year-old Tyquan Mayo, was fatally shot during the incident. Police arrested 16-year-old Jaylen Hines and an unnamed 15-year-old in connection with the shooting. Both teens now face multiple charges, including one count of murder, two counts of attempted murder, and one count of discharging a weapon into an occupied dwelling.

Authorities shut down a city block and spent approximately four hours at the scene collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses. A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous, expressed a desperate need for answers after the shooting.

In total, 13 individuals were brought in for questioning during the investigation. Hines was charged as an adult and appeared in Pitt County Courthouse on Thursday, where he was granted a $3 million secured bond.

At this time, police have not determined a motive but believe the shooting was linked to a dispute between two groups.
