COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KRDO) — Three individuals, including a juvenile with a murder warrant, were arrested early Thursday morning, July 4, following a break-in at Jared Jewelry in Colorado Springs.
According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), the suspects—Jayden Miller, 18, Jesus Esparza, 18, and a 15-year-old male juvenile—were caught around 1 a.m. after a coordinated police operation.
CSPD’s Car Theft Unit had been tracking a stolen gray 2013 Dodge Charger moving through the city. Detectives monitored the vehicle near Woodmen Road and North Academy Boulevard when they observed three suspects breaking into Jared Jewelry.
Officers executed a Contact Block maneuver, using patrol vehicles to pin the stolen car against the building to prevent escape.
Despite fleeing on foot, all three suspects were captured after a brief chase.
Inside the vehicle, police found jewelry valued at approximately $7,000, believed to have been stolen from Jared Jewelry and other stores along the Front Range. The suspects are now believed to be linked to multiple recent burglaries.
All three were charged with:
Motor Vehicle Theft
Burglary
Obstruction
The 15-year-old suspect also has an outstanding warrant for one count of murder and eight counts of attempted murder. He and the other suspects have been placed into detention facilities.
CSPD confirmed the investigation remains ongoing.
