Jayawijaya Police Arrest Suspect in Violent Theft Case

RK, 25, caught following robbery of Bhayangkari mother in Wamena

WAMENA – The Jayawijaya Resort Police in Papua have apprehended a suspect in connection with a violent theft (curas) targeting a Bhayangkari mother on Jalan Hom-Hom, Wamena.

Jayawijaya Police Chief AKBP Anak Agung Made Satriya Bimantara reported that the Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) acted swiftly after receiving a tip on the suspect’s whereabouts. At 3:15 p.m. local time, officers arrested RK, aged 25, while he was shopping at a used clothing kiosk on Jalan Irian, Wamena.

Investigations revealed that RK acted as a lookout using a motorcycle during the crime, while his accomplice, identified as KY, who carried out the theft, remains at large and is being pursued.

During the arrest, police seized a Honda Scoopy motorcycle, which was used in the robbery.

Police Chief Satriya commended the Satreskrim operational team for their hard work in cracking the case. “We are committed to eradicating all forms of crime and will not tolerate any perpetrators operating in Jayawijaya,” he said.

The investigators are continuing their efforts to capture the main suspect and ensure the safety of the community remains intact.
