In a startling case revealing the lengths some individuals go to pursue foreign dreams, the Special Operations Group (SOG) has booked 28-year-old Jay Patel from Vasna for allegedly submitting a fake Class 10 marksheet to the Regional Passport Office (RPO), Navrangpura.
Jay Patel, who reportedly failed his board exams multiple times, attempted to bypass the system using a forged marksheet allegedly issued by the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Sector 62, Noida. The case surfaced when the RPO, suspicious of the marksheet attached to Patel’s passport application, requested verification through the Special Branch in June this year.
Upon inquiry, SOG officials confirmed the marksheet was completely fabricated. Patel had also produced the same fake document earlier this year during a previous passport application, raising further suspicion.
An offence has been registered under Sections 336(2), 336(3), and 340 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Section 12 of the Passport Act. Though Patel has not yet been arrested, police efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him.
