CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — A routine traffic stop turned into a major arrest after deputies with the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office discovered drugs, a loaded weapon, and a large amount of cash in a vehicle.
On May 20 at around 3:15 p.m., a deputy initiated a stop near 22nd Avenue and 9th Street due to a suspected window tint violation. The driver was identified as 32-year-old Javin Olds of Centerville, GA.
Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy noticed a strong odor of marijuana and observed that Olds’ seatbelt was improperly fastened behind his back.
A backup unit arrived and conducted a search of the vehicle, which led to the discovery of:
Multiple bags of marijuana
A loaded handgun
A pill bottle without a label containing white and orange pills
A significant amount of U.S. currency
Olds was arrested and transported to the Crisp County Jail, where he now faces the following charges:
3 counts of possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute
Possession of marijuana
2 counts of possession of controlled substance
Possession of a firearm or knife during commission of a crime
Possession of tools for the commission of a crime
2 counts of drugs not in original container
Window tint violation
Seatbelt violation
The case is under ongoing investigation by the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office.
