A 21-year-old man, Javier Panuceno, has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of Karla Diane Barclay, 52, early Saturday morning in Montgomery, Alabama.
Police and Fire Medics responded to the scene at the 1000 block of Eastern Boulevard around 1:09 a.m., where they found Barclay suffering from life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene, but police were able to locate the suspect shortly afterward. Javier Panuceno was identified as the driver and charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident.
Panuceno is currently being held in the Montgomery County Detention Facility, with a $15,000 bond. Police have not released further details but confirmed the investigation is still ongoing.
