A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to 40 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice following his conviction for aggravated assault against a public servant and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle.

Javier Delarosa received the sentence from Judge Christi Kennedy in the 3rd District Court of Henderson County. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Jeff Herrington, according to a press release from the Henderson County District Attorney’s Office.

In addition to the 40-year sentence, Delarosa was also sentenced to 10 years on separate charges of attempted manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence.

The convictions stem from incidents involving Delarosa’s attempt to flee law enforcement and his involvement in drug-related activity. Further details about the case, including the dates of the offenses, were not released in the statement.

Delarosa will serve his time in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The case reflects the county’s continued efforts to pursue strong penalties for crimes involving violence against public servants and drug offenses.
