LAS VEGAS, Nev. (FOX5) — A 49-year-old man, Javier Becerril-Solis, is now in ICE custody after being arrested by Las Vegas Metro Police for allegedly running a fencing operation connected to an organized retail theft ring.
According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), Becerril-Solis was arrested on charges including grand larceny, burglary, and participation in an organized retail theft network. He was booked into the Clark County Detention Center following a three-month investigation by Metro’s Organized Retail Crimes Unit.
Stolen Goods Recovered
Detectives say Becerril-Solis purchased stolen merchandise from individuals who had shoplifted items from retail stores across the Las Vegas Valley. He then resold the goods at discounted prices at local swap meets.
On Thursday, LVMPD executed multiple search warrants at different locations. The operation led to the recovery of $100,280 worth of:
Shoes
Designer clothing
Toys
Over-the-counter medications
Federal Detainment
After posting bail for the state charges, Becerril-Solis was immediately taken into custody by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), where he now remains under federal detainment.
Authorities continue to investigate the extent of the theft ring and whether more suspects are involved.
