A significant burglary was reported at the residence of local businessman Nikhil Merkar, where valuables worth Rs2.25 lakh were stolen. The incident occurred on April 25 and involved a group of alleged thieves who forcibly entered the home.

The accused — identified as Bheema Kale from Bijapur, Babajan Shaikh from Karnataka, and Javed alias Devidas Pawar (40) from Solapur — reportedly broke open the main door and fled with Rs75,000 in cash, a gold chain, and a gold coin.

Police have since arrested Javed alias Devidas Pawar in connection with the theft. He was apprehended in Solapur and is now in custody as investigations continue. Authorities are working to trace the remaining suspects involved in the case.

Efforts are ongoing to recover the stolen property and determine whether the group is linked to other burglaries in the region.
