Police have intensified their crackdown on drug trafficking across Kashmir, arresting two individuals in separate operations in Pulwama and Kupwara, and booking three chronic offenders in Sopore under stringent anti-drug laws.
In Pulwama, during a naka checking near Argecheck, police apprehended Javaid Ahmad Mir, son of Mohammad Akbar Mir and a resident of Pakherpora, after recovering 60 grams of cannabis from his possession.
Meanwhile, in Kupwara, police arrested Danish Ahmad Sheikh, son of Mohammad Yousf Sheikh of Tikker Kupwara, following the seizure of a heroin-like substance. He remains in custody at the local police station.
Both have been charged under relevant sections of law, and investigations are underway.
In Sopore, police booked three individuals under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS) for repeated involvement in drug peddling. The accused are:
Bilal Ahmad Lone, son of Abdul Rashid Lone of Lorihama Rafiabad
Jameel Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar of Saripara Rafiabad
Mohammad Altaf Dar, son of Ghulam Qadir Dar of Mumkakh Batpora Sopore
According to police, all three have been consistently involved in narcotics trafficking despite previous arrests and FIRs, posing a serious threat to community safety.
