In a breakthrough, police have cracked a sophisticated ATM theft case and arrested four individuals from Bathinda, Punjab, who allegedly stole over Rs3 lakh from a bank ATM in Nehru Nagar, Mumbai, earlier this month.

The incident, which occurred on June 7 between 6:23 am and 6:28 am, involved a spy camera cleverly used to capture the pattern code of the ATM’s inner cash box. The accused then used forged access tools to steal the money undetected.

Arrested Accused:
Jasvir Singh Sukhdev Singh (29), Lehra Bega Road, Bucho Mandi

Lakhvir Singh Baldev Singh (31)

Gurpreet Singh Karnail Singh (27), Verma Basti

Rachpal Singh Baldev Singh (37)

All four hail from north India, police confirmed.

Recovered Items:
A Skoda car worth Rs3 lakh

Rs20,000 cash

3 mobile phones

A spy camera, Wi-Fi dongle, SIM cards

Forged ATM keys, memory card reader, and OTG device

The suspects used fake tools and technical knowledge to gain access to the ATM machine. Based on a complaint from the bank, a case was filed at Nehru Nagar police station, while a parallel FIR was also registered at Ghatkopar police station for related offenses.

The investigation is being overseen by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 6) Sameer Shaikh and Investigating Officer Shivaji Pavade. Authorities continue to probe deeper into possible links to similar high-tech ATM thefts.
