by Sophia Bennett

NEKOOSA, Wis. — A 26-year-old Wisconsin man was arrested Tuesday in connection to the murder of his father, Thomas Tourtillott, over 3 1/2 years after the initial incident.

According to the Nekoosa Police Department, the original incident occurred on July 22, 2021, when officers responded to a call reporting an unresponsive man at a home. Despite first responders attempting life-saving measures, 58-year-old Thomas Tourtillott was pronounced dead at the scene.

An investigation later revealed that Thomas had died from injuries consistent with foul play. Jason Tourtillott, the victim’s son, was identified as a person of interest and later deemed involved in his father’s death.

The Wood County District Attorney’s Office has charged Jason Tourtillott with 1st-degree intentional homicide. He was arrested in Wisconsin Rapids with the assistance of several law enforcement agencies and is currently being held at the Wood County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Further details about the case have not been released.
