AVON, N.Y. — A Dansville man is facing multiple charges, including a felony drug offense, after crack cocaine was allegedly discovered during a traffic stop on Interstate 390 in Avon.
According to the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, 45-year-old Jason M. Scott was pulled over around 4:19 p.m. on August 28 by Deputy Jason Page for an observed violation of state Vehicle and Traffic Law.
During the stop, Deputy Page suspected drug activity and initiated an investigation that reportedly led to the discovery of crack cocaine in Scott’s possession.
Scott was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony. He also faces charges of third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and multiple traffic violations.
Following his arrest, Scott was taken to Livingston County Jail for processing. He was arraigned before Town of West Sparta Justice Sue Mahany, who ordered him held without bail due to his record of two or more prior felony convictions.
Scott is scheduled to appear in Avon Town Court to answer the charges.
Records from the New York State Department of Corrections indicate that Scott has previously served time in state prison for third-degree burglary.
The Livingston County Public Defender’s Office is representing Scott. The District Attorney’s Office was also present at the arraignment.
