CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Charleston man has been sentenced to more than a decade in federal prison following his guilty plea in a major drug distribution case.

Jason K. Hairston, 28, was sentenced today to 10 years and 10 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to distribution of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Hairston was involved in multiple drug transactions between Sept. 13, 2024, and Jan. 30, 2025. During that time, he sold approximately 1.1 kilograms of methamphetamine in four separate transactions, receiving about $5,000 in total. As part of his plea agreement, Hairston also admitted to selling approximately 61.3 grams of heroin in two separate transactions for roughly $4,200, as well as selling an AR-style pistol for $1,000.

All of the sales were made to a confidential informant in Charleston, according to prosecutors.

On Feb. 4, 2025, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at Hairston’s residence. During the search, authorities seized nearly two pounds of methamphetamine, six firearms with assorted ammunition and magazines, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and $18,057 in cash.

Federal officials said the case highlights ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and related firearms offenses in the region.
