KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Jason Hughes was arrested after allegedly attacking another man on a golf course in Kissimmee due to frustration over slow play. The victim sustained an orbital fracture and needed stitches to his cheek.
According to an arrest warrant, the incident occurred in June when Hughes confronted a golfer who was playing slowly. Deputies with the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) say Hughes told the man multiple times to hurry up as he played with a friend ahead of Hughes.
The warrant states the situation escalated when the golfer spoke to his friend while on the green, prompting Hughes to attack unprovoked. Hughes allegedly punched the man repeatedly in the face before both parties were separated by their playing partners.
After the assault, Hughes and his companion left the course in their golf cart and then drove off before deputies arrived. The victim was found bleeding and bruised but declined ambulance services, instead opting to be driven to the hospital by a friend.
The golf course assisted deputies by providing surveillance footage and identifying Hughes through the credit card used to book the reservation. Hughes was booked into Osceola County Jail and charged with aggravated battery causing bodily harm.
At his first court appearance, a judge set Hughes’ bond at $2,500 and ordered him not to play golf on any public course as a condition of release.
