KEARNEY, Neb. — A 43-year-old Kearney man, Jason Gundersen, is facing multiple felony charges following a domestic violence incident that allegedly occurred on September 4.
Gundersen was arraigned in Buffalo County Court on Friday, Sept. 5, where he was formally charged with:
First-degree sexual assault (Class 2 felony)
Assault by strangulation (Class 3A felony)
First-degree false imprisonment (Class 3A felony)
Third-degree domestic assault causing injury
Resisting arrest (first offense)
Obstructing a peace officer
According to a complaint filed in the court record, Gundersen allegedly sexually assaulted his intimate partner without consent at a location on Highway 30 in Kearney. He also allegedly strangled, restrained, and injured the victim.
This marks Gundersen’s second domestic violence offense, with a prior conviction on Sept. 18, 2023.
He was arrested and booked into the Buffalo County Jail on Sept. 4. His bail was set at 10 percent of $750,000, and he remains in custody.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 1 at 3:30 p.m. The affidavit supporting continued detention has been sealed by the court.
