A 30-year-old man, identified as Jason Anthony Manboard, has been arrested in connection with a shooting that critically injured another man at a Miami apartment complex on January 16, 2025. According to the Miami Police Department, the shooting occurred at approximately 10:18 a.m. when officers were called to a residence on Northwest 56th Street.
Upon arrival, police discovered a man with gunshot wounds in the second-floor hallway of the apartment building. Officers provided initial medical assistance until paramedics from Miami Fire Rescue arrived and transported the victim to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center. The victim, who sustained gunshot wounds to his chin and right temple, was listed in critical condition.
Authorities later identified the suspect as Jason Anthony Manboard, a resident of Miami Gardens. Surveillance footage from the scene captured Manboard wearing a colorful remembrance shirt, light blue jean shorts, and carrying a black handgun. The video also showed his interaction with the victim, who was identified as the boyfriend of Manboard’s ex-girlfriend.
The incident reportedly began as an argument over damage to the ex-girlfriend’s car. According to the victim’s statement, the altercation escalated when Manboard followed the ex-girlfriend back to her apartment. He became physically aggressive after she rejected his sexual advances and eventually shot her boyfriend when he arrived at the scene. Manboard fled the area shortly after the shooting occurred.
Manboard’s ex-girlfriend later confirmed his identity as the shooter during a photo lineup. On Wednesday, police located and arrested Manboard at approximately 5:30 a.m. near Brickell Avenue. He was transported to the Miami Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit for questioning.
During his interrogation, Manboard admitted to being at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment but claimed he was angered when he saw her texting someone else. He denied physically assaulting her or having any prior disputes before the shooting.
Manboard is now facing charges of attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, and attempting to tamper with evidence. He is currently being held without bond at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
