WEXFORD COUNTY, Mich. — A Northern Michigan couple, Jason and Jessica Klimp, are scheduled for court appearances after being extradited from Tennessee following convictions for aggravated child abuse and neglect.
The charges stemmed from allegations that the couple starved two of their children and forced them to sleep in plastic totes. Last month, both pleaded guilty and were sentenced to 10 years in the Tennessee Department of Corrections without the possibility of parole.
The Klimps are currently held at the Wexford County Jail after being extradited on November 13. Each faces four child abuse-related charges in Michigan.
Upcoming proceedings include:
Probable cause hearing: November 25
Preliminary exam: Jason Klimp – December 2, Jessica Klimp – December 5
The Michigan courts will determine how the state handles the child abuse-related charges following their Tennessee convictions.
