UK Offender Jaskarn Jhaj Charged in Disneyland Child Wedding Scandal

Jaskarn Jhaj, 39, a convicted British sex offender, has been arrested and charged by French prosecutors after allegedly staging a fake wedding with a nine-year-old girl at Disneyland Paris.

Prosecutors in Meaux, east of Paris, confirmed that Jhaj—also known as “Jacky”—was already on the UK sex offenders register and wanted by British authorities for failing to comply with registration obligations.

On Saturday, Disneyland staff were stunned to discover a lavish “wedding” involving a Ukrainian child and nearly 100 guests. Jhaj had reportedly paid £115,000 to privatise part of the theme park, using forged identity documents under a Latvian name to secure the venue.

French authorities revealed Jhaj faces charges of fraud, identity theft, money laundering, and breach of trust. His criminal past includes a 2016 conviction for grooming and sexually assaulting two 15-year-old girls in the UK, luring them to fake parties by posing as a film producer.

Investigators say this disturbing incident was orchestrated to appear as a wedding, with the goal of live-streaming it on social media. The child’s mother, a 41-year-old Ukrainian woman, along with a 24-year-old Latvian woman (posing as the bride’s sister) and a 55-year-old Latvian man were also arrested.

A medical examination confirmed the child had not been physically harmed. The event was quickly shut down by Disneyland staff once the girl’s age was realised. A source at Disneyland said, “The event was canceled immediately. Staff acted professionally to stop further harm.”

Jhaj is infamous for bizarre public hoaxes. In 2023, he staged a fake red carpet event in London with over 90 children. Earlier in 2024, he was filmed naked in Silvertown, East London, detonating a fake police van as part of a self-produced stunt dubbed Project Dover.

French prosecutors said: “He deceived Disneyland management with false documents and identities. The entire event was intended to remain confidential, which raised further suspicions.”

The shocking case has sparked international outrage and renewed concerns over how known offenders can operate across borders undetected. Authorities are continuing to investigate potential accomplices and digital evidence from the scene.
