In a significant development, the Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) arrested Jaskaran Singh Brar, a Naib Tehsildar, on Monday for his involvement in a multi-crore guava compensation scam. Brar surrendered to the agency in Mohali after his alleged role in the fraudulent scheme was unveiled during the investigation.
The VB spokesperson reported that Brar colluded with the main accused to facilitate wrongful compensation payments to unauthorized beneficiaries. Investigations revealed discrepancies between the revenue records and the names of landowners listed for compensation. Several beneficiaries had been improperly included, despite having acquired land after the issuance of notifications under Section 11 of the Land Acquisition Act.
The investigation is ongoing as authorities aim to hold all involved parties accountable.
