A man has been charged with murder following the death of a devoted father in Wolverhampton.

Navpreet Singh, 26, succumbed to his injuries in hospital after being assaulted in a car park off Dudley Road early on Wednesday.

Jashan Singh, 20, from Wolverhampton, has been charged with murder and is scheduled to appear before Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, West Midlands Police confirmed.

Two other men, aged 23 and 34, who were initially arrested on suspicion of murder, have been released on bail as inquiries continue.

In a statement, Navpreet Singh’s family described him as a “loving husband, devoted father, brother, and son” who was eagerly awaiting the birth of his second child. They added that his wife is “utterly heartbroken and inconsolable at the loss of her beloved husband, with whom she had been building a beautiful future.”

Police are continuing to appeal for anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
