DETROIT — Jarvis Ramon Butts, 42, who is currently awaiting trial on charges related to the death of 13-year-old Na’Ziyah Harris, has been charged with sexually assaulting another young girl, Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced.
Butts faces first-degree criminal sexual conduct and second-degree criminal sexual conduct charges involving an eight-year-old victim. The alleged assaults occurred at an auto repair shop located on East Warren Avenue in Detroit between 2021 and 2022.
On Friday, Butts was arraigned on the new charges in Detroit’s 36th District Court and was remanded to jail. A probable cause conference is scheduled for October 8, with the preliminary examination set for October 15.
Currently, Butts awaits a jury trial set for February 23, 2026, on murder charges connected to the homicide of Na’Ziyah Harris. The 13-year-old was last seen getting off her school bus on January 9, 2024, in Detroit, and her body has yet to be recovered. The trial was previously scheduled for October 6 but was postponed. Prosecutors expect to call over 40 witnesses, while the defense plans to call at least 10.
