Jarez Wilson Charged After Child Shot With Unattended AK-47

St. Louis County man faces child endangerment charges

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (First Alert 4) – A St. Louis County man is facing charges after a child was accidentally shot with a loaded AK-47 that had been left unattended in a home.

Jarez Wilson has been charged with first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, accused of creating a substantial risk by leaving the firearm unsecured.

According to court documents, the incident occurred on July 31, when Wilson allegedly left a loaded AK-47 inside a bag on a couch. A child in the home began to play with the weapon, which accidentally discharged.

The child’s brother was shot in the abdomen and was transported to Children’s Hospital for treatment. As of publication, the child’s condition remains unknown.

Wilson is currently being held on a $150,000 cash-only bond, with no 10% option available.
