Jared Eugene, Akyre Marks Arrested in Jeanerette Shooting

Teen and adult face multiple firearm-related charges

JEANERETTE, La. (KLFY) – Two individuals, Jared Eugene and Akyre Marks, have been arrested in connection to a shooting incident that occurred on June 17 near Peach and Pellerin streets in Jeanerette.

According to the Jeanerette Police Department, both Eugene and Marks surrendered voluntarily to the Jeanerette City Marshal’s Office.

Akyre Marks, a 17-year-old from Jeanerette, faces several charges including:

Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities

Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property

Illegal Carrying of Weapons

Illegal Possession of a Handgun by a Juvenile

Jared Eugene, 39, also of Jeanerette, has been charged with:

Illegal Use of Weapons or Dangerous Instrumentalities

Possession of Firearms or Carrying Concealed Weapons by Persons Convicted of Certain Felonies

Aggravated Assault with a Firearm

Illegal Carrying of Weapons

Both individuals were transported to Iberia Parish jail for booking. At this time, no bond information has been released.
