Jared Benson Arrested for Grand Theft at Novato Target

San Francisco man faces burglary charges after stealing $2,000 in merchandise

NOVATO, Calif. (KRON) — A San Francisco resident, Jared Benson, was arrested for grand theft at a Target store in Novato on Friday, according to the Novato Police Department. The incident occurred at approximately 8:19 p.m. when police were notified about a theft in progress by a man known to store employees as a repeat offender.

Officers quickly arrived on the scene and detained Benson, who was found to have stolen over $2,000 worth of merchandise. Further investigation revealed that Benson was a suspect in four other active burglary cases at the same Target store.

In addition to the theft charges, Benson was found to have an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest from the Morgan Hill Police Department for a previous grand theft.

Benson, 27, was arrested and booked into Marin County Jail on five separate counts of burglary, including the outstanding warrant. The Novato Police Department continues to investigate Benson’s involvement in the other burglaries.
