OKLAHOMA CITY — Police say an inmate and two of his family members orchestrated a bond scam from inside the Oklahoma County Detention Center, leading to their arrests.
According to officials, the investigation began when inmate Jaquoryon Cobb allegedly told another inmate that he had a contact who could help post their bond. Cobb then directed the inmate to have a family member call a phone number, where his mother and aunt — China Cobb and Diamond Cobb — posed as licensed bondsmen.
The victim’s family was told to send $1,000 via CashApp to secure the release. However, no services were provided, and authorities later confirmed that the callers had no legal authority to act as bondsmen.
Jaquoryon Cobb is now facing charges related to orchestrating fraud from jail, while his mother and aunt have been charged with obtaining money under false pretenses.
Oklahoma County Detention Center officials say the investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges may be filed.
