WATERVLIET, N.Y. — A 65-year-old woman from Watervliet, Janet M. Huyck, was arrested on December 10 after she was found attempting to ingest an unknown substance during a police stop.

The Watervliet Police had been investigating complaints of drug activity in the area of the 1800 block of 5th Avenue when they stopped a vehicle of interest. Upon contact with Huyck, who was the female passenger, she attempted to swallow the substance. Police were able to prevent her from ingesting the item, which was later identified as approximately six grams of crack cocaine.

Huyck was arrested and charged with felony third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance with intent to sell, fourth-degree criminal possession of a narcotic, and felony tampering with physical evidence. She was arraigned in Watervliet City Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
