Janesville Woman Arrested for Stealing Gun from Unlocked Vehicle

Kimberly Heaps, 36, faces multiple charges after stealing a firearm and attempting to flee from officers

JANESVILLE, Wis. — Kimberly Heaps, 36, was arrested on Sunday night after allegedly stealing a firearm from an unlocked vehicle in Janesville.

According to Janesville Police, officers responded to a theft report in the 100 block of N. River Street at approximately 8:45 p.m. Upon arriving, they set up a perimeter around the area and deployed a K9 to track the suspect.

The search led authorities to Heaps, a convicted felon, who was found with the stolen gun concealed in her clothing. She now faces multiple charges, including theft of a firearm, trespassing to land, and felon in possession of a firearm.

Police continue to investigate the incident, urging residents to lock their vehicles and remove valuables to help prevent similar thefts.
