FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) – A shocking case of alleged child abuse has emerged in Farmington, where police say they discovered disturbing evidence against a father and his girlfriend. The 15-year-old victim, who has autism, told investigators that her father, Jammy Jackson, and his girlfriend, Patricia Madrid, forced her to stay in a chicken coop all day, provided her with only one meal daily, and limited her bathroom access to twice a day.
Both Jackson and Madrid denied the allegations. In police lapel video, they insisted that the teen was free to be inside the house but chose to be outside. “She’s 15, almost 16. That’s her choice,” they said when questioned. When specifically asked if they confined her in the chicken coop, they denied it.
The teen also accused Jackson of holding a gun to her head and threatening to shoot her. Jackson dismissed her claims, saying she was lying. However, police confiscated the couple’s phones and reportedly found messages supporting the teen’s allegations.
Jackson is now facing 14 charges and remains behind bars. Madrid, however, was shot and killed in Farmington last week. Police are still searching for the suspect in her murder, and her charges have been dropped.
Authorities continue to investigate the case.
