In a strong crackdown on drug trafficking, police in Jammu and Udhampur arrested five suspected drug peddlers during separate operations carried out over the weekend. Authorities seized multiple quantities of heroin, intensifying efforts to curb the illegal narcotics trade in the region.

In Tikri, police intercepted a car and arrested Rafiq Ahmad, Arun Singh, and Amandeep Singh. During the search, officers recovered 15.51 grams of heroin from their possession.

In a separate operation at Chennani, police arrested Jahangeer Bhat, a truck driver from Kupwara, after recovering 59.85 grams of heroin.

Meanwhile, another operation in Gajansoo led to the arrest of Abhi Kumar, from whom 4.54 grams of heroin was recovered.

All five suspects have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS Act). Police officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing to identify possible links to larger drug trafficking networks.

Authorities said the coordinated operations highlight the commitment of law enforcement agencies to eliminate illegal drug trade and maintain public safety in the region.
