Jammu & Kashmir Police Arrest Six Drug Peddlers, Seize Contraband

Drugs and cash recovered across Kashmir valley in major bust

As part of their ongoing effort to combat the drug menace, Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested six drug peddlers across the Kashmir valley on Saturday, recovering various contraband substances in the process.

In Srinagar, a surprise checkpoint at the Lawaypora/Mujgund Axis led by SHO Police Station Shalteng resulted in the interception of a suspicious individual. Upon searching him, police recovered approximately 22 grams of a heroin-like substance. The accused, Mohammad Yaseen Bhat (also known as Shaka), a resident of Astan Mohalla Gundhasibhat, was arrested.

In a separate operation, a team from Police Station Zadibal apprehended Waseem Ahmad Bafanda from Dangerpora Malbagh Hazratbal at a checkpoint in Sazgari Pora. Police recovered 4 grams of heroin and Rs3020 in cash from his possession.

Meanwhile, in Sopore, a team led by SHO Police Station Sopore and SDPO Sopore intercepted a suspicious person near Adipora crossing. Owais Bashir Shakari, a resident of Sher-Colony, Sopore, was found carrying a polythene bag containing 5.10 grams of a brown sugar-like contraband substance.
