On Friday, Jammu and Kashmir Police announced that they had successfully solved a theft case in Central Kashmir’s Srinagar district. The police arrested the individual responsible for the crime and recovered the stolen items from his possession.
According to a spokesperson, the investigation began after Police Station Lal Bazar received a complaint from Maqsood Ahmed Baba, a resident of Jogiwan Lal Bazar. Baba reported that an unknown thief had broken into his bread shop and stolen Rs. 34,000 in cash, along with several copper utensils.
A case, identified as FIR No. 07/2025, was filed at Police Station Lal Bazar, and an investigation was launched. After intense efforts and analysis of the evidence, the police were able to identify and apprehend the suspect within hours. The accused, Asif Majeed Parry, a resident of Waltengoo Kund Kulgam, was arrested shortly after the theft.
During the investigation, it was revealed that Parry had stolen the DVR from a CCTV system installed at a local mosque to conceal his identity. Acting on this information, the police successfully recovered the stolen cash (Rs33,731), the DVR from Masjid-e-Rahman in Jogiwan Lal Bazar, and the copper utensils.
The investigation is still ongoing, and authorities have urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activity.
