OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Two suspects have been arrested following a vehicle takedown after a string of car burglaries targeting visitors at water parks, the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office announced.
Since July 2025, deputies received numerous reports of vehicle burglaries at the H2O Water Park in Kissimmee, involving both locals and tourists who returned to find their cars broken into. Detectives launched a surveillance operation to identify the suspects.
On Wednesday, officers spotted a man and woman enter a 2025 grey Hyundai at a residence before heading to the water park. Deputies observed the male passenger attempting to open several parked cars, successfully entering one unlocked vehicle, while the female driver stayed inside acting as a lookout.
Following the burglary, the suspects drove to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon. Upon noticing police presence, they fled, prompting a pursuit. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit tracked the Hyundai with aerial footage, leading ground teams to execute a tactical vehicle takedown.
The driver, Jamika Spencer, 29, and passenger, Nicholas Rivera, 33, were arrested without incident and transported to Osceola County Jail. Detectives found a 2-year-old boy safely secured in a car seat in the back of the vehicle; the child was unharmed and released to a family member.
Spencer and Rivera face charges including burglary of a conveyance and child neglect. Investigators are also looking into their possible involvement in earlier burglaries in the region.
Capt. Kim Montes, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, commented on the crime: “It’s a crime of opportunity. If the door is locked, he moves on to the next vehicle.”
Detectives identified Spencer as a suspect after tracing stolen bank cards used in connection to the break-ins. Montes added, “To me, it’s just horrible as a mother. I could never even think about taking a child to commit a crime.”
