ABERDEEN, N.C. — A Cameron man was arrested in connection with a 2021 narcotics investigation after lab results confirmed the presence of fentanyl, the Aberdeen Police Department announced Wednesday.
Jamie Latraiv Williams, 43, was taken into custody on April 8, 2025, by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, following a long-delayed felony drug charge stemming from an incident nearly four years ago.
The case began on August 2, 2021, when Aberdeen officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot near U.S. Highway 1 and Maple Avenue. Officers found two adults — including Williams — possibly unconscious inside the vehicle.
During their investigation, police discovered a large quantity of suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia. Williams reportedly claimed all the items were his and was initially charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at the scene.
The seized substances were sent to the North Carolina State Crime Lab on August 23, 2021. More than two years later, on October 5, 2023, the lab confirmed one of the substances was fentanyl, a Schedule II controlled substance.
Warrants for felony drug possession were issued shortly afterward, but authorities were unable to locate Williams until his recent arrest.
Following his arrest, Williams appeared before a Cumberland County magistrate and was issued a $5,000 secured bond.
