INDIAN HEAD, Md. — A disagreement between two men in Charles County turned violent on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, when one allegedly shot the other with a high-powered pellet gun. The Charles County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting report around 6:15 p.m. on Stump Neck Road.

Investigators determined that the incident stemmed from an argument between James Wendell Andrews, 54, of Waldorf, and the male victim. The confrontation escalated when Andrews allegedly fired the pellet gun at the victim in a driveway. EMS arrived at the scene and found that the victim had sustained an arm injury, though the full extent of his injuries has not been disclosed. He was subsequently transported to a local trauma center for further treatment.

Deputies located Andrews shortly after the incident and seized the weapon involved in the shooting. Andrews was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree murder, both first- and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment. He is currently being held without bond.

A preliminary court hearing for Andrews is scheduled for March 26, 2025. Authorities will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses.
