James Rogers and Shirley Hazelwood Arrested in Randolph County

Traffic stop leads to meth and outstanding warrants arrests

RANDOLPH COUNTY, N.C. — Two individuals were arrested following a traffic stop in Trinity, Randolph County, according to authorities.

On Jan. 8, 2025, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office conducted a stop on Shadydale Acres Lane. James Edward Rogers, 54, was taken into custody for a felony probation/parole violation and an outstanding arrest order from Davidson County for failure to appear on a misdemeanor charge.

During the stop, deputies discovered illegal substances and paraphernalia. The female passenger, initially giving a false name, was identified as Shirley Dove Hazelwood, 50. Hazelwood had an outstanding arrest order from Guilford County for possession with intent to sell or deliver Schedule II controlled substances. She faces felony methamphetamine possession and multiple misdemeanor charges.

Hazelwood was denied bond due to being out on pre-trial release, with her first court appearance set for Jan. 9, 2026. Rogers was issued a $6,000 secured bond for his outstanding arrest and a $30,000 secured bond, with a court date on Jan. 7, 2026. Both were transported to the Randolph County Detention Center.
