James Orgovan Arrested in Cherokee County Drug Case

Gadsden man faces trafficking and firearm charges

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ala. — A Gadsden man has been arrested and charged in connection with drug trafficking.

56-year-old James Frank Orgovan was taken into custody early Thursday following a traffic stop near the Key community for an expired tag, according to Sheriff Jeff Shaver.

During the stop, deputies found illegal narcotics and a firearm in the vehicle, both belonging to Orgovan, who was a passenger at the time. Authorities also determined that he was prohibited from legally possessing a firearm.

Orgovan faces multiple charges, including:

Trafficking in methamphetamine

Certain persons forbidden to possess a firearm

Unlawful possession of marijuana, second degree

Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia

He is currently held at the Cherokee County Jail.
