LOWELL, Ark. — Arkansas State Police have arrested James Andrew McGann, 28, of Springdale, in connection with the brutal double homicide that took place on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Devil’s Den State Park.
McGann was apprehended at 4:57 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30, at a business in Springdale. He is now facing two counts of Capital Murder for the fatal attacks on Clinton David Brink, 43, and Cristen Amanda Brink, 41, who were hiking with their two young daughters when the incident occurred.
The couple’s daughters, ages 7 and 9, were physically unharmed and are now safe in the care of family members.
Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders issued a statement praising law enforcement for the swift apprehension:
“No news can heal the enormous harm done to the Brink family… but this announcement is a comfort and reassurance for our state… We do not tolerate violent crime in Arkansas.”
Col. Mike Hagar of the Arkansas State Police commended the dedication of investigators and highlighted the cooperation between state, local, and federal agencies:
“Because of their hard work and investigative skill, we were able to take a monster off the streets, and bring relief to those two precious girls, and the rest of our citizens.”
Authorities have not yet released further information regarding the motive or details of the crime. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional updates will be provided as they become available.
