James L. Guthrie Sentenced to 64 Years for Rape and Sodomy

Mississippi County man faces life sentences for felony charges

MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, Mo. (KFVS) – James L. Guthrie was sentenced on October 2 for multiple sexual offenses, including statutory rape and sodomy.

Guthrie was found guilty on August 15 after a two-day jury trial, facing five felony charges: three counts of statutory rape, one count of statutory sodomy, and one count of child molestation.

According to a statement from Mississippi County Prosecuting Attorney Claire Poley, Guthrie received a total of four life sentences, with two sentences running concurrently and two consecutively. Additionally, he was sentenced to an extra four years, bringing his total time in the Missouri Department of Corrections to 64 years.
