Arkansas suspect linked to thefts across counties

by Sophia Bennett

WYNNE, Ark. — A man arrested earlier this week in Cross County could face multiple theft charges related to farm shop burglaries across the region.

According to Cross County Sheriff David West, 34-year-old James Bell was taken into custody Tuesday night and booked into the Cross County Detention Center around 8 p.m. on several drug-related charges following a probation search.

Sheriff West said investigators are now preparing to file five counts of theft of property against Bell connected to farm shop thefts in Cross County.

Authorities also believe Bell may be responsible for additional thefts in neighboring areas. Officials said nine more counts of theft are expected to be filed from adjacent counties as the investigation continues.

The Cross County Sheriff’s Office said the case remains active as detectives work to gather more evidence related to the reported thefts.
