GRANITE FALLS, NC — A probation search led to the arrest of 39-year-old James Allen Jones on Friday, June 27, after authorities discovered illegal drugs and a firearm in his residence.
Officers from the Granite Falls Police Department were assisting the Department of Probation and Parole in a search of Jones’ home at 13 Spring Street. During the search, law enforcement discovered approximately 16.5 grams of methamphetamine, six grams of powdered fentanyl, and a loaded .32 caliber pistol.
As a result, Jones was taken into custody and charged with the following felony offenses:
Trafficking in opium or heroin
Possession of methamphetamine
Maintaining a dwelling for controlled substances
Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
He was issued a $100,000 secured bond for the drug and firearm charges and an additional $30,000 secured bond for a probation violation related to the new offenses.
Jones appeared in District Court today (June 30). The investigation is ongoing.
