James Allen Held Without Bail on Weapon, Menacing Charges

Willet man arrested after welfare check turns violent

WILLET, NY (607NewsNow) — A Cortland County man is being held without bail following a welfare check that led to his arrest on multiple weapon and menacing charges.

On July 2 at approximately 2:15 p.m., Cortland County deputies responded to a residence on Bloody Pond Road in Willet for a welfare check. During the investigation, authorities say 70-year-old James Allen attempted to injure another individual at the scene.

Allen was taken into custody and charged with:

Three counts of felony criminal possession of a weapon

Three counts of misdemeanor menacing

He is currently jailed without bail and is scheduled to appear in Willet Town Court on September 4.
