JASPER — Jameel Adam Christmas, 39, of Jasper, was arrested on January 25, 2026, following a drug investigation and a low-speed pursuit, the Jasper Police Department reported.
Officers received a community tip about possible drug activity near B Street and initiated a traffic stop while conducting proactive patrols. The driver led police on a low-speed pursuit through a residential area during inclement weather before stopping and being taken into custody without incident.
During the investigation, officers detected the odor of illegal narcotics from the vehicle. A search revealed crack cocaine and marijuana hidden in a secret compartment, along with a firearm. The vehicle was impounded, and the suspect was transported to Jasper City Jail.
Christmas faces charges of unlawful possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of marijuana in the first degree, and attempting to elude a police officer. Police noted he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
The Jasper Police Department emphasized that the arrest highlights the value of community tips and proactive policing in keeping neighborhoods safe.
