GULFPORT — Jamaro Jonathan McNair, 18, of Gulfport, has been arrested on several felony charges following a vehicle theft investigation in Harrison County, officials confirmed Wednesday.
McNair faces two felony counts of motor vehicle taking, one count of vehicle burglary, one count of directing a juvenile to commit a felony, failure to stop for law enforcement, and possession of a stolen firearm, according to the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to a stolen vehicle report at a home on Roundhill Drive in Gulfport, where they discovered McNair had arrived in a stolen vehicle taken from Three Rivers Landing. He was accompanied by a juvenile.
Authorities say McNair burglarized a vehicle in the Roundhill subdivision and stole another vehicle from the area. Deputies later spotted the stolen vehicle traveling west on Interstate 10 and attempted to stop it, but the driver initially fled. The vehicle eventually stopped on County Farm Road after the battery died, leading to McNair’s arrest.
McNair was also found to be in possession of a stolen firearm. The juvenile accompanying him was charged with vehicle burglary and motor vehicle theft and taken to juvenile detention.
McNair was booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility with bond set at $210,000 by Justice Court Judge T. Lyons.
