St. Catherine, Jamaica — Jamar Grant, a 29-year-old taxi operator associated with inDrive, has been remanded in custody following his court appearance on Friday in connection with the kidnapping and murder of University of Technology (UTech) student Anisa Dilworth.

Grant, a resident of Bull Bay, St. Catherine, is scheduled to return to St. Catherine Parish Court on September 26. He was charged two weeks ago after DNA tests confirmed that human remains discovered on May 17 near Fort Clarence Beach belonged to 20-year-old Anisa, who had been reported missing since May 7.

Anisa was last seen entering an inDrive vehicle. However, the ride-share platform released a statement claiming there was no record of the ride being booked through their app, noting that the accused’s account was created after Anisa’s last recorded trip in 2024.

The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to determine how the victim came into contact with the accused outside of the inDrive system.
