ROME, Ga. — Two Rome men, Jamar Shantay Finley, 42, and Rodney Lewis Palmer Jr., 36, were arrested this week after allegedly conspiring to sell fentanyl to an undercover officer.
Authorities say the suspects sold over 28 grams of fentanyl during the operation. Following the controlled buy, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Palmer’s residence located at 11 South Elm Street — directly across from Elm Street Elementary School.
The search uncovered a significant stash of illegal drugs, including:
Fentanyl
Methamphetamine
436 grams of marijuana
All substances were reportedly packaged for distribution, and officers also seized digital scales and drug packaging materials, further supporting intent to sell.
Both Finley and Palmer face multiple felony charges, including:
Possession of fentanyl
Possession with intent to distribute fentanyl
Sale of fentanyl
Drug trafficking
Felony possession of marijuana
Additional charges include:
Jamar Finley:
Possession of methamphetamine
Possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine
Rodney Palmer:
Attempt to violate the Georgia Controlled Substances Act
Possession and distribution of a Schedule II controlled substance
Possession of drugs within 1,000 feet of a school
The arrests are part of an ongoing effort by local law enforcement to combat drug distribution near school zones and dismantle trafficking networks in the community.
